My Story
I’m an anatomy geek! I believe what Resonates with you heals you. I believe in a whole person approach to the body and the beautiful and limitless ways it can heal itself with the right guidance. I will never stop exploring education and never stop allowing the shifts that are needed as following what resonates has never led me astray.
From as early as grade school, my fascination with the human body was evident. I recall asking my teacher if I could swap a chapter book for Grey’s Anatomy. Admittedly, I didn't comprehend everything I read back then, but the spark was ignited – I was eager to grasp the intricacies of the human form. Upon my high school graduation, I found myself in the Bay Area with my older sister, a licensed massage therapist. Under her influence, I felt a potent pull towards Massage Therapy. Even as she nudged me towards potential careers in medicine – be it as a doctor, nurse, or physical therapist – the realm of health care was a definite for me. Returning home to Oregon, I embarked on a deeper academic journey. It was also where I met my life partner, started our family, and completed prerequisites for nursing school. While I reveled in subjects like cellular biology and neurology, I realized traditional western medicine didn't entirely resonate with me. I yearned for a more tactile, holistic, and preventive approach to health and healing.
Life, with its unpredictable twists, led our family back to the Bay Area. Here, amidst caring for my children, I delved into self-studies, exploring Functional Medicine, Herbology, and Movement Therapies. Serendipity introduced me to a fellow mom, a physical therapist in need of assistance at her practice. This experience rekindled my earlier enthusiasm for massage therapy. My hands had found purpose and I seemingly intuitively discerned pain points and their origins.
A search for local massage schools led me to a program in Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy. The timing was impeccable, aligning perfectly with my family’s routine. It became clear: my entire life had been steering me towards this profession. From the very first massage I administered during my course, my hands felt in sync with their true calling.
